Some attendants made a career in science: preliminary research conducted on the
Royal Society Catalogue of Scientific Papers has identified 170 authors of
scientific articles in several domains (medicine chemistry, geology, botany,
etc.)

18 attendants became members of the Academie des sciences;
36 of the Academie de medecine.

A few will become Professors at the Museum national d’histoire naturelle;
Ducrotay de Blainville, Brard, Audouin, Flourens.

It is however difficult to assess the influence Lamarck’s ideas might have
exercised on his pupils. Though a few will indeed take up one or another form of
evolutionary theory, some were opposed to evolution , and the majority appear
indifferent to the issue. See P. Corsi, “The pupils of Lamarck”, on this
website, in the “Papers” section.
